The con­fer­ence venue will be the Uni­ver­si­ty of Graz (found­ed in 1585), which is one of the largest uni­ver­si­ties in Aus­tria with about 32,500 stu­dents. Many excel­lent sci­en­tists, amongst them six Nobel lau­re­ates includ­ing Erwin Schroedinger, Otto Loewi and Vik­tor Hess have taught and researched here.

The EUROSENSORS 2018 Con­fer­ence fea­tures two spe­cial top­ics “Pho­ton­ic & Quan­tum Sen­sors” and “Auto­mo­tive Sen­sors”, which are of high rel­e­vance for acad­e­mia as well as for research insti­tutes and indus­try. These spe­cial top­ics are moti­vat­ed by strong Aus­tri­an R&D activ­i­ties in pho­ton­ic and quan­tum tech­nolo­gies as well as the loca­tion, since Graz is the cen­tre of Austrian’s auto­mo­bile indus­try, pro­duc­ing cars for the major Euro­pean brands. The EUROSENSORS 2018 School is focused on “Sen­sors for Autonomous Dri­ving” being the next big thing in auto­mo­tive applications.
